Naturally milled. Consciously baked. Made for decades. Those who want to bake more consciously today don’t start with the recipe, but with the quality of the flour. This is exactly where we at Salzburger Getreidemühlen come in: with handcrafted household mills from Salzburg, natural materials, and a design built to last.

What makes our mills special starts on the inside: We use natural granite millstones instead of artificial corundum ceramics, untreated solid wood instead of plastic in the grinding chamber, and a precise stainless steel adjustment mechanism for consistently fine flour.

Natural granite instead of artificial millstones

The heart of every grain mill is the millstones. That is why we rely on natural granite from Europe. Our natural stones are hand-crafted and matched in pairs. This makes each pair of stones unique.

For us, this is not a minor detail but a fundamental principle: We want to work with natural materials, not artificial composites. Our natural stones are virtually unbreakable and chip-resistant, often usable for 30 to 40 years with the factory grind and can be re-sharpened later. Additionally, our natural stones come with a lifetime warranty.

Wood instead of plastic

Another key feature of our mills is the grinding chamber made of solid, untreated hardwood. Wood has an antistatic effect and, in our view, is a better fit for a natural food product like flour than plastic.

With this decision, we remain true to our philosophy: We want to consciously avoid plastic wherever flour is produced. This is an important distinction, especially for people who value natural materials and high-quality, sustainable kitchen equipment.

Precision You Can Feel in the Flour

Fine flour is produced not only by good millstones but also by precise technology. That is why the solid stainless steel thread plays a central role in our mills. It ensures that the set fineness remains constant during grinding.

The result is flour that you can not only see but also feel: light, powdery, soft, and velvety. It is precisely this quality that, for us, makes the difference between simply ground flour and truly high-quality flour.

Craftsmanship from Salzburg

Our mills stand for Austrian craftsmanship, experience, and a mindful approach to baking. We combine traditional values with a clear commitment to materials, workmanship, and durability.

When we speak of the soul of Austrian milling, this is exactly what we mean: honest craftsmanship, natural materials, and products made not for a fleeting trend, but to last for many years.

Less processing starts earlier

For us, freshly ground flour is more than just an ingredient. It’s a different approach to baking. Those who start with whole grains make a more conscious choice regarding origin, quality, and taste.

That is why we do not simply view our grain mills as kitchen appliances. We see them as part of a more mindful approach to cooking: closer to the grain, closer to real food, and closer to what makes for good baking.

Our Salzburg grain mills represent a commitment to natural materials, honest craftsmanship, and baking with a high standard.
