Today we have the third and last part of our series of articles on conscious eating and drinking for you. On our Salzburg grain mills blog you can already in FIRST and SECOND Read part of tips for a conscious diet.
A healthy and sustainable diet involves more than conscious shopping and eating. Cooking yourself fresh, listening to your body and paying attention to the origin and processing of food is also part of this. If you have any questions about nutrition that we don’t answer in our blog posts, please feel free to ask us by email ( [email protected] ).
But now we come to the last three tips of this series of articles (tips for a conscious diet (part 3)):
- Eat a varied diet: It is of great importance to supply your own body with a large number of essential macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats and proteins) as well as micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). In order to get all those essential substances in sufficient quantities, it is important to consume as many different foods as possible. The focus should be on the little processed, fresh ones. Vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds should therefore be eaten “whole”. Bringing food with you every time you shop that wasn’t taken last time and trying new recipes can help switch to a varied diet.
- Only a minimum of sweetened drinks or food: Like you probably also from the Food pyramid knows, sweet drinks and sweets should only be consumed to a very small extent (if at all). Since these foods (from a nutritional point of view) are not essential to life and can even be harmful to health, they should only make up a minimal proportion of our diet.
- Enjoyment cannot be missing: One of the most important, if not the most important, tips about eating well is enjoying your food and drink. Buy the foods that you like and use them to cook dishes that appeal to you. It’s possible to pay attention to all of the tips we’ve shared with you in this series of posts AND enjoy them. One should and must not exclude the other!
We hope that we have been able to provide you with useful tips with this series of articles on conscious nutrition. Perhaps you are already in the process of developing and implementing your own “nutritional awareness”. You are also welcome to leave us a comment on this. We look forward to hearing from you!
