We can buy carrots (including carrots, turnips, carrots, etc.) regionally all year round. The reason for this is that they can be stored very well. Even though the carrots are mainly grown in the warmer months of the year, they keep well for a long time and we actually always find them in supermarkets and vegetable markets.
You can prepare the spread that we present to you today at any time of the year. The great thing is that the recipe is really very easy and can also be prepared very quickly.
Ingredients for the carrot spread
- 6 carrots (if possible from organic farming)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp sesame mushrooms (tahini)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika powder
- optional: some oregano, cumin powder, garlic powder
preparation
First cut the carrots into pieces (about 3 cm thick). With organic carrots, it is not absolutely necessary to peel them off. Then steam or cook for about 10-12 minutes until tender.
Now put the carrots with the remaining ingredients in a tall container and puree with a hand blender. If you have a stand mixer or a food processor, you can of course use them as well. Once the carrot spread has turned into a fine mass, you can season it again.
Then you fill the spread in clean, sealable glasses and store it in the refrigerator. Or you can of course enjoy it right away. The carrot spread tastes really wonderful on a homemade wholemeal bread!
Enjoy it and see you soon,
