Berti wholemeal waffles

Hello all,

I – your Berti – would like to have my say again. And since you know me by now, you’ve probably already guessed that I’ve been trying out new recipes again. This time I have namely unpacked my waffle iron and prepared fresh whole grain waffles for my mice breakfast. Mmmh, they were so good!Berti wholemeal waffles

Ingredients for the whole wheat waffles:

  • 125 g whole spelt flour
  • 125 g whole wheat flour
    • You can also take 250 g of a whole wheat flour. I have mine of course quite fresh with my
      Salzburg grain mill
      )
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 30 g whole cane sugar (or alternative sweetener such as honey or date sweetener)
  • 100 g butter
  • 4 eggs (I always look for organic quality and that the chickens whose eggs I eat have a good life)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Cinnamon, vanilla extract
  • 180 ml whole milk or vegetable drink (you may need a little more milk to make a viscous dough).
  • Oil, so that you can grease the waffle iron

Preparation:

Cream butter, sugar, salt, eggs and cinnamon/vanilla extract in a bowl. Add the baking powder to the whole wheat flour and stir both into the batter. Then add the milk/vegetable drink so that the dough has a viscous consistency.

Now grease the waffle iron with oil and heat. Depending on the size of your waffle iron, place about a ladleful of batter into it. The waffles are ready when they no longer stick to the iron and have a golden brown color.

The fresh wholemeal wafers can now be coated or topped as desired. Whether with jam, compote, whipped cream or fresh fruit, the wholemeal waffles from Berti taste simply great!

I wish you good luck!

See you soon,

Your Berti
