- 2 cups of milk (or a plant-based alternative such as almond or oat milk)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of ground cloves
- A pinch of ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on taste)
- Fresh fruit of your choice (e.g. pieces of apple or pear)
- A handful of roasted nuts (e.g. walnuts, almonds or pecans)
Instructions:
- Preparing the porridge: In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over a medium heat.
Add the wholegrain oats and stir. - Add the spices: Add the cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.
Stir everything well to distribute the spices evenly. - Cook: Allow the porridge to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it has reached the desired consistency.
If you prefer a thinner porridge, you can add more milk. - Sweeten: Remove the porridge from the heat and sweeten to taste with honey or maple syrup.
- Serve: Place the porridge in a bowl.
