A life without plastics?
It may sound impossible at first, but in many areas of life this is very feasible!
More and more people are becoming aware that plastic is almost everywhere. Not only as a technical material and in the household. No, even where you don’t see plastic, don’t suspect it, and want it even less, plastic is used there too. Plastics are used for cleaning agents, for textile fibers and above all as packaging material. We are often not even aware of where plastic is used. Without knowing, a little “plastic” creams your face with the expensive cream.
Information about plastics and the impact on humans and our planet has allowed many consumers to change their awareness.
If plastics are quite obvious, clear and unambiguous to see, then more and more people react to them with rejection. People no longer buy fruit, vegetables and meat packaged in plastic!
It is now common knowledge that various types of plastic should not come into contact with food. When food and beverages are packaged in plastic, contained plasticizers, such as BPA (bisphenol A), could enter our bodies. This may result in damage to health.
It is very easy to take care to avoid plastics where they can be avoided.
Instead of the plastic bag, a cotton tote bag can serve you well for years.
Instead of packing the sausage in plastic, it can be brought home in paper.
But like everywhere else in life: It is up to each individual how they deal with plastics.
And how thoroughly you learn about their use.
And since you can’t immediately see the use of plastics in many products, it’s EYES UP before you buy!
By tradition, we have been building mills with a wooden grinding chamber for 40 years now.
Out of love for natural materials, we now also build mills that are almost completely plastic-free.
We can’t do without power cables, on/off switches and other technically necessary parts either. But we make it possible that flour and grain do not come into contact with any plastics.
Stainless steel – wood – and real granite – this is how Salzburg grain mills are built, where the flour is ground.
The environment is also important to us! Through non-biodegradable plastic, we pollute waters, oceans for decades and thus also harm ourselves in the end.
The Salzburger MT 5 and MAX grain mills are offered as special models and are supplied almost completely plastic-free.
That is our contribution to sustainability and healthy eating!
